Storage & Distribution Warehouse Refurbishment

When Hallmark Consumer Projects acquired an old cold store, the prospects of turning it into a highly efficient storage and distribution warehouse seemed, to some, a little lukewarm.

But HCP appointed Storage Concepts to conduct a ground-up refurbishment. By acting as the main contractor, we were able to apply our skills and ‘one-stop package’ experience. We designed, managed, built and completed the entire refurbishment within the specified eight weeks, and to budget.

The cold store’s existing drive-in racking had to be stripped out, but it wasn’t wasted. On behalf of HCP we brokered a deal for the 300 tonnes of scrap steel, and by negotiating a top rate were able to recover a handsome percentage of the project costs.

After stripping, the cold store was deep-cleaned to create a totally hygienic working environment. Then we installed a new, 2500 capacity, pallet racking system – plus new lighting and emergency lighting, alarms, ventilation and extraction systems, as well as advanced connectivity for IT, data and electronic applications.

As further testament to our ‘one-stop package’ capability, we also concurrently redeveloped the cold store’s old office block into a fully operational administrative centre. Including all design, project coordination and major building work.

So the cold store was efficiently and cost effectively transformed into a hot property.
